First, I want to talk about the basics of sound, physical health. Here are six key areas for taking care of your body.
- Eat right
- Drink the right amount of liquids
- Sleep the right amount of time
- Do the right amount of detoxification
- Exercise for the right amount of time
- Get the right amount of relaxation to offset stressors in life
So, what is the “right amount”? Each of us are unique (think snowflakes). There will be a certain amount of work on our part to discover what this “right” is for each of us.
However, so often we will try as hard as we can to do all of this right for ourselves to the best of our ability. (Do you see where this is going?) So often we fail. So, what is missing? The tough thing is that this depends on our own willpower. Our willpower is weak. Can you relate? How often have you tried, for how long, only to find that things are still not “right.”
The truth is, we have to let go of our own will and surrender to God’s will. In Him, all things are possible. You’ll see in Matthew 19:26 – Jesus said, “… with God all things are possible.” In Luke 22:42, Jesus said to the Father, “… not my will , but thine, be done.”
I used to have a saying that went, “I live to eat!” I come from a family of great cooks. When the families get together we gather around, eat and sit there saying, “MMMMMmmmmm!”
When I learned more about surrendering my will, that phrase changed to, “I eat to live!” I became more careful about what I eat. The good thing is that as I surrendered my will, something that really is impossible for me, became possible in Him (God’s will).
To overcome the obstacle of my willpower, it has to be replaced with God-power. The truth is, a God-centered life creates a God-guided life and this is accomplished by a prayer-filled life.
