I always recommend sitting down and discussing things with God first to bring you to a place of peace.
If your body needs some help, this supplement, 5-HTP time-released from Jigsaw Health, may be a good choice to calm and lift your mood.
It isn’t for everyone so I will start with a message of caution:
“No significant adverse effects have been reported in clinical trials of 5-HTP. Side effects appear to be generally limited to short-term, mild digestive distress and possible allergic reactions.
One potential safety issue with 5-HTP involves an interaction with a medication used for Parkinson’s disease: carbidopa. Several reports suggest that the combination can create skin changes similar to those that occur in the disease scleroderma.
According to several reports, when dogs have consumed excessive amounts of 5-HTP, they developed signs of excess serotonin. In humans, this so-called “serotonin syndrome” includes such symptoms as confusion, agitation, rapid heartrate, high blood pressure, muscle jerks, loss of coordination, sweating, shivering, fever; and rapid breathing; coma and death are possible. Serotonin syndrome might also occur if 5-HTP is combined with drugs that raise serotonin levels, such as SSRIs (e.g., Prozac), other antidepressants, or the pain medication tramadol. There is a chance you might raise serotonin levels too high, causing a dangerous condition called serotonin syndrome.
There are some reasons for concern that 5-HTP could increase the risk of “infantile spasms” (technically, massive myoclonic seizure disorder) in developmentally disabled children.”
I do not fall into any of these categories of safety concerns. I have had no side effects even when my digestive system was weak. Jigsaw Health’s product eliminates the nausea that often occurs with 5-HTP. You can take these any time during the day with or without food when you feel stressed or a bit “blue.” They will not make you drowsy. I take two at night when I feel I need them. I call these my “happy” pills. Initially, it took about three days of taking two together just before going to bed to notice any difference. The next morning after taking them, the world somehow looks and feels better. It is “tryptophan” — the same thing that can make you feel satisfied after a turkey at Thanksgiving. Turkey is known for having tryptophan in it. Chicken does too. Jigsaw Health has a time-released form of this called 5-HTP which is an advanced form of tryptophan, the naturally occurring amino acid that tells your brain to produce serotonin — which is used in the brain to promote overall feelings of well-being. It can help lift a “blue mood” for those experiencing this every now and then.
I like several of the Jigsaw Health products and will have a list of them all in one place in the future. For now, I am posting more detail about each of the products I like in separate posts. I read Pat Sullivan’s book (Mr. Sullivan is the founder of Jigsaw Health and the owner of two other successful businesses) and found that I suffered some of the same health symptoms and problems he has suffered in the past.
If you decide to try this and it works for you, let us know about it in the comments section below.
